Spitzer Case Tossed--Finally

Spitzer Insurance case is tossed. More on this to come , but it seems that one of the cases launched against insurers by Eliot Spitzer way back when he was New York’s attorney general has finally been thrown out. It has taken five years. Can you imagine what these men have gone through during that time?

I do not yet know the particulars of the case, but here was my article on Spitzer’s Reign of Terror .

Libertarianism and Natural Rights. Jacob Sullum, a syndicated columnist who writes frequently for Reason magazine, takes Elena Kagan to task for refusing to endorse the theory of natural rights that clearly underlies the U.S. Constitution. I agree with his criticism. But what I do not find in Sullum’s article, and indeed what I have not seen much in Reason magazine in recent decades, is a clear explanation of the philosophical basis their authors believes we have for accepting the existence of natural rights.

The Moratorium is OFF. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has rejected the Obama administration’s request to reinstate its moratorium on deepwater drilling.
